Overview
With the publication of her second book of poems, Morrissey's poetic landscape grows more diverse, encompassing the Orient, the Antipodes, America, and Ireland. Searching for tranquility and grace, the poet find only colorful spiritual barrenness and cultural reality at her destinations. These poems also reflect the poet's political anger upon returning to her native Northern Ireland. Sinéad Morrissey is the author of Parallax, The State of the Prisons, and There Was Fire in Vancouver. She was the youngest poet to receive the Patrick Kavanagh Award for Poetry and teaches poetry at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen’s University–Belfast.
