A careful sorting out of his complete works, this book also contains Edward Lucie-Smith’s most penetrating poems of recent years. Marked by its human and social commentary, Lucie-Smith’s verse plays within the spheres of erotic and aesthetic imagery and often exudes a historical and religious sensibility. His lyricism also reflects contempt for the rigidity of poetic conventions and distaste of the anonymity of character portraits.
